We have finally been able to organize a physical mobility after the COVID crisis. We have met in Tsikalaria School, in the island of Crete, Greece. We spent fantastic 5 days together doing a lot of activities. The Tsikalaria school organized a lot of interesting activities for the rest of teams. All teams could visit the school and discuss with teachers and the headmistress about pedagogy.
Students could learn and experiment a lot about physics and science while getting to know ancient Greek culture a little bit more. They could also learn to cook and taste Kalitsounia, a typical Greek dish.
Teachers had a very interesting workshop about flipped classroom including the job shadowing of 1st graders practicing this methodology. That lead to a debate on how to implement this sort of lessons in our schools and find ways to overcome possible difficulties. Teachers could also enjoy a workshop about Ancient Greek crafts.
Further to that, all visiting teams had a Cretan cultural immersion that helped understand the cultural differences and similarities amongst all of us and feel closer to eachother. It included a tour in the city of Chania, visiting ancient archaeological sites, enjoying a typical Cretan party with music and dances and by all means discovering the typical gastronomy.
What is even more important, both students and teachers were blending in during the 5 whole days, doing activities together and building relationships that are surely going to be long lasting. Workshops were done in international teams to promote the bonding amongst students from different groups.
